The OSG VGM5-0030 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 0.01 inch corner radius, and 5 flutes with a variable index geometry for reduced vibration and improved surface finish. The EXO coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in abrasive and hard workpiece materials. At 2 inches overall length with a 3/8 inch length of cut, this is a short-series tool suited for rigid setups in CNC machining centers. It is center-cutting and designed for both roughing and finishing operations.
This end mill is built for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It fits standard toolholders using a straight-cylindrical 3/16 inch shank with an h6 shank diameter tolerance. Typical applications include contouring, profiling, and ramping operations where corner protection and edge durability are critical. The right-hand cutting direction and high helix angle promote chip evacuation in difficult-to-machine materials. It is well suited for use in production shops, tool rooms, and aerospace or general metalworking environments.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 3/16 inch shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers performing roughing and finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the toolholder collet or chuck is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute carbide tools. Follow the machine tool builder guidelines and cutting data recommendations for the specific workpiece material when setting speeds and feeds.
