The OSG VGM5-0012 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the VGM5 series, designed for high-performance material removal and finishing in demanding machining applications. It features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in aggressive cuts. The 5-flute, single-end geometry is paired with a high-helix spiral flute design and an EXO coating for improved heat resistance and wear performance. This end mill is center-cutting and configured for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction. It is sized and constructed for use in precision CNC milling operations across a range of difficult workpiece materials.
The VGM5-0012 is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is suited to both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup, making it a practical choice for shops running tight-tolerance work on difficult alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard toolholders and the long-length configuration provides reach in deeper pockets or stepped features. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop, aerospace, medical, and general manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H).
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the toolholder and spindle are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping before initiating a cut. Always verify spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut are appropriate for the workpiece material before the first pass.
