The OSG VGM3-0022 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in aluminum and aluminum casting applications. It features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 0.0300-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at part corners and extends tool life in finish passes. The three-flute, right-hand cutting geometry with variable helix and variable index angles reduces harmonic vibration during cuts, improving surface finish quality. This tool ships uncoated (bright finish) and is intended for single-end use by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for finishing cuts in aluminum and aluminum casting on CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight tolerances and clean corner geometry are required. The centercutting design allows for plunge entry, adding flexibility to its application range. Its straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks. The VGM3-AL series is purpose-built for non-ferrous light alloy work, making it a practical choice for aerospace, automotive, and general precision machining operations.
Designed for use in aluminum and aluminum casting applications as part of the OSG VGM3-AL series. Fits standard 3/8-inch end mill holders and collet chucks with a straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the collet or end mill holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank to maintain runout tolerances. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and machine setup. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chipping before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and sensitive to interrupted cuts or improper fixturing.
