The OSG VG446-2502 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to a 0.25-inch cutting diameter with a 3/8-inch length of cut and a 4-inch overall length, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single pass. The 45-degree chamfer geometry produces a 0.016-inch chamfer width at the corner, making it well suited for edge breaking and chamfering tasks alongside general milling. A TiAlN PVD coating extends tool life in abrasive and high-heat cutting environments. The 35-degree helix angle and variable flute indexing reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation.
This end mill is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The extended-reach design, with a 1.25-inch reach length and a 0.235-inch neck diameter, allows access to features with limited clearance. Supported operations include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a straight cylindrical shank. Typical users include CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on precision components in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers with a 3/8-inch tool holder accepting a straight cylindrical shank (shank diameter tolerance h6). Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as identified in OSG VG446 series application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before mounting or removing the tool. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 3/8-inch shank diameter to minimize runout. Verify tool projection and reach clearance against the workpiece setup before running the first cycle.
