The OSG VG441-1010-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the VG441BN series, it features a 1.25-inch diameter, a 2.25-inch length of cut, and a 5-inch overall length. The variable index design spaces flutes unequally to disrupt harmonic vibration and reduce chatter, which directly extends tool life and supports higher metal removal rates. A TiAlN PVD coating adds thermal and wear resistance. Four helical flutes at a 35-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation for both roughing and finishing passes. This tool is sized for use in CNC machining centers and is installed and changed out by machinists and toolroom professionals.
The VG441-1010-BN is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The single-end configuration with a Weldon flat shank and h6 shank diameter tolerance ensures secure tool holding in standard end mill holders and Weldon-style chucks. The stub-length profile keeps deflection low when cutting in tighter setups. Applications include contouring, profiling, and 3D surface work across aerospace, die and mold, and general precision machining environments.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers accepting a 1.25-inch Weldon flat shank. Compatible with primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S as classified by ISO cutting material designation, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify the Weldon flat is properly oriented and the set screw is torqued to the tool holder specification before running. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use to avoid tool failure in cut.
