The OSG VG436-1252 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for precision chamfering, shouldering, and slotting in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 0.125 inches in diameter with a 0.125-inch length of cut and a 1.5-inch overall length. The cutting geometry features 4 flutes with a variable flute type, a 35-degree helix angle, and a 45-degree chamfer angle at 0.01 inches chamfer width. A TiAlN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extends tool life in high-speed cutting environments. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.125 inches in diameter with an h6 tolerance, ensuring consistent runout in standard collet systems. This tool is suited for machinists and toolroom professionals working on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
The VG436-1252 is built for both roughing and finishing operations in a single-end stub-length configuration. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry, making it practical for slotting passes as well as chamfer blending on part edges. The variable index geometry helps reduce harmonic chatter during interrupted cuts or when working harder alloy grades. Primary workpiece material categories include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H). Secondary workpiece suitability is rated for hard materials (H). The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation match standard spindle configurations on most CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Suitable for shouldering, slotting, and chamfer operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance collet or end mill holder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the shank in a precision collet or end mill holder rated for the shank diameter and verify runout before cutting. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the rated length of cut of 0.125 inches to avoid deflection or premature edge failure.
