The OSG VG434-6256 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and hard materials in production machining environments. It carries a 5/8 inch cutting diameter with a 0.09 inch corner radius, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 3-1/2 inch overall length. The TiAlN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. With four flutes and a variable index geometry, this tool balances metal removal rate with surface finish quality. It is single-end, centercutting, and mounts in a standard straight-cylindrical toolholder with a 5/8 inch shank diameter.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in interrupted cuts and high-load passes. It is used in CNC machining centers running production parts in aerospace, die and mold, and general metalworking shops. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute spiral are standard for conventional CNC setups.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials under the ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state. Confirm the toolholder bore and collet size match the 5/8 inch shank diameter before mounting. Apply proper runout checks after tool mounting to stay within the mill diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to -0.0015 inches. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer-recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material grade.
