The OSG VG434-5008 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. With a 0.500 inch mill diameter, a 1.250 inch length of cut, and a 0.125 inch corner radius, this single-end tool delivers both roughing and finishing capability in a single pass. The TiAlN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures. A Weldon flat shank ensures positive, non-slip seating in standard toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers running ferrous and exotic materials will recognize the VG434 series as a purpose-built tool for challenging workpiece materials.
The VG434-5008 is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration supports applications where chip evacuation and surface finish must be balanced simultaneously. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, expanding application flexibility on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Typical use cases include profiling, slotting, and ramping cuts in mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and general precision metalworking.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 0.500 inch Weldon flat shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H).
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine control in an e-stop or locked-out state. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the holder and tighten the set screw against the flat to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with an indicator before cutting. Refer to OSG VG434 series speeds and feeds data for the specific workpiece material to avoid premature coating wear or chipping.
