The OSG VG434-5005 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling of ferrous and hard materials. It features a 1/2-inch diameter, a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, and a 0.045-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding applications. The TiAlN PVD coating provides thermal resistance for dry or high-speed cutting. With 4 flutes, a variable index geometry, and a right-hand spiral flute configuration, this end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing passes. It is installed in CNC machining centers and manual mills by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production and job-shop environments.
The VG434-5005 is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry, and the Weldon flat shank provides secure retention in standard toolholders. The 3-1/2-inch overall length and regular-length flute type make it a practical choice for general-purpose milling operations where rigidity and reach must be balanced. It is equally suited to finishing contoured surfaces and slotting or peripheral milling on medium-complexity workpieces.
Designed for use with standard Weldon flat toolholders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). Part of the OSG VG434 series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists using a compatible Weldon flat toolholder; confirm holder bore diameter matches the 1/2-inch shank before mounting. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or changing tooling. Verify runout and tool projection after seating to maintain tolerance integrity. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for feed rate, speed, and depth of cut based on workpiece material.
