The OSG VG434-5004 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a 0.5 inch diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at part edges and extends tool life. The 3.5 inch overall length and 0.5 inch shank diameter fit standard toolholders with a Weldon flat shank. A TiAlN PVD coating provides heat resistance and oxidation protection at elevated cutting temperatures. This tool is suited for both roughing and finishing operations and is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
The VG434-5004 is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a variable index and medium helix angle supports stable chip evacuation and reduced chatter across a range of cut depths and feed rates. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, adding versatility for pocketing and slotting operations. This is a single-end, regular-length tool intended for use in milling machines and CNC machining centers with compatible toolholders.
Designed for use with standard milling toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch Weldon flat shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified in the VG434 series application data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a compatible toolholder to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque and confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Verify feeds, speeds, and depth of cut against the OSG VG434 series application guidelines for the target workpiece material before engaging the cut.
