The OSG VG434-1006 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding materials. It features a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, and a 0.09-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the tool tip during heavy material removal. The 4-flute, single-end design with a medium helix supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. A TiAlN (PVD) coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard or abrasive workpiece materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production environments will find this cutter appropriate for a wide range of ferrous and exotic alloy applications.
The VG434-1006 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry without pre-drilling, and the right-hand flute direction with right-hand cutting orientation is compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills. The straight cylindrical shank mounts directly in standard end mill holders or collet-style toolholders. The stub length classification keeps the overhang short, improving rigidity on interrupted cuts and harder workpiece grades.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank. Intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as designated by material codes P, M, K, S, and H. Part of the OSG VG434 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following established toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the cutter. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the toolholder to minimize runout and prevent pull-out under load. Verify toolholder bore and collet size match the 1-inch shank diameter before mounting; shank tolerance is rated to h6.
