The OSG HP460-1968 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Part of the HP460 series, this single-end tool features a 0.1969-inch cutting diameter, a 0.6299-inch length of cut, and a 3-flute spiral geometry with a 60-degree helix angle. The steep helix promotes aggressive chip evacuation and smooth cutting action, making it well suited for high-speed finishing and light roughing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The micrograin carbide substrate and TiAlN coating deliver elevated heat resistance and edge retention at elevated spindle speeds. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where a small-diameter, short-reach tool is required. The 0.2362-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and toolholders in that size range. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling operations. The regular-length body keeps tool overhang minimal, which supports rigidity and reduces chatter in precision detail work, slot milling, and contour passes at close tolerances.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended minimum insertion depth and torque the collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
