The OSG HP441-4724 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built to Series HP441 specifications, it features a 0.4724-inch (12 mm) mill diameter, a 0.9843-inch length of cut, and four spiral flutes with a 35-degree helix angle. The TiAlN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. Micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and edge retention across a range of workpiece materials. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, allowing plunge and ramp entry in addition to standard peripheral milling.
The HP441-4724 is suited for high-performance milling of ferrous metals, hardened steels, and similar materials in both CNC machining centers and manual milling setups. Its right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling. The 35-degree helix promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. This tool is appropriate for tool-and-die, aerospace component, and general precision machining work where consistent dimensional accuracy is required. It is installed and operated by qualified machinists and CNC programmers.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for use in standard milling chucks, collet holders, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 12 mm (0.4724-inch) shank diameter across CNC machining centers and knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before loading or unloading the end mill. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder to prevent pullout under cutting load. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish.
