The OSG HP441-1968 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built on OSG's HP441 series platform, it features a 0.1969 inch (5.00 mm) mill diameter with a 0.6299 inch (16.00 mm) length of cut and a 35-degree helix angle for efficient chip evacuation. The TiAlN coating improves heat and wear resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. With four flutes and a spiral flute geometry, it delivers a balance of chip clearance and surface finish. This tool is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry as well as standard peripheral milling. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and toolrooms are the primary users.
The HP441-1968 suits high-speed finish milling and slotting operations in materials such as alloy steels, stainless steels, and hardened workpieces where TiAlN coating provides thermal protection. The micrograin carbide substrate supports rigidity and edge retention in tight-tolerance applications. With an overall length of 51.00 mm and a 5.00 mm shank diameter, it is well suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring small-diameter tooling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional vertical spindle setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-production square end mill for CNC machining centers and conventional mills accepting 5.00 mm shank tooling within the OSG HP441 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 5.00 mm shank diameter and torque the retention mechanism according to the holder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout after tool installation before initiating a cutting program.
