The OSG HP434-1872 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. It carries a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 0.02 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a medium helix for balanced chip evacuation and surface finish. The cutting edge is TiAlN coated via a PVD process, which improves heat resistance and tool life when working in high-temperature alloys and hardened steels. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be ramped or plunged into the workpiece. It is installed and run by CNC machinists and toolroom operators in production and job-shop settings.
The HP434-1872 is built for roughing and finishing operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its regular-length geometry and straight cylindrical shank make it a straightforward drop-in for standard collet chucks and shrink-fit toolholders. The 5/8 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length suit it to shallow-to-medium depth slot milling, profiling, and contouring passes where a corner radius is required to reduce stress concentrations at the base of a feature.

This tool is installed by machinists in collet chucks or shrink-fit toolholders rated for the 3/16 inch shank diameter. Confirm toolholder runout is within acceptable limits before operation, as excessive runout accelerates wear on small-diameter carbide end mills. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material and coating manufacturer recommendations before engaging the cut. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid dropping or impacting the cutting end during handling and storage.
