The OSG HP421-2362-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill from the Hy-Pro-Carb HP421BN series, engineered for both roughing and finishing operations in demanding machining environments. The cutter measures 0.2362 inches (6 mm) in diameter with a 0.748-inch (19 mm) length of cut and a 64 mm overall length. A TiAlN physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The submicron carbide grade substrate supports edge integrity in high-hardness applications. This is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with a right-hand helical flute configuration and a 35-degree medium helix angle. Licensed machinists, CNC programmers, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
The HP421-2362-BN is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H). Its 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER or side-lock toolholders commonly found on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The standard-length geometry makes it appropriate for general profiling, contouring, and slot milling where extended reach is not required. It does not feature coolant-through capability, chipbreakers, variable helix, or variable index, keeping setup straightforward for high-volume production runs and job-shop applications alike.
Designed for use in standard 6 mm ER collet chucks, hydraulic toolholders, or side-lock holders on CNC machining centers. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop and the spindle confirmed powered off. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the appropriate collet nut spanner when seating the shank in an ER chuck to ensure runout is within acceptable limits. Inspect the shank and toolholder bore for chips or contamination before assembly. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for the specific workpiece material.
