The OSG HP421-0938-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling across a wide range of workpiece materials. Part of the OSG Hy-Pro-Carb HP421BN series, it features a 0.0938-inch diameter cutting head, a 0.3125-inch length of cut, and a 35-degree medium helix angle. The submicron carbide substrate is finished with a TiAlN PVD coating, which supports heat resistance during aggressive cutting cycles. With two right-hand helical flutes and a straight-cylindrical shank, this end mill handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single-end configuration. It weighs approximately 0.01 pounds.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The 0.0938-inch cutting diameter and 1.5-inch overall length make it well matched to tight-tolerance features, small-radius contours, and die or mold cavity work where a compact tool profile is required. The 1/8-inch straight shank fits standard collet chucks and tool holders used in CNC machining centers and milling machines. No coolant-through capability or extended reach is present, so it is best applied in conventional flood-coolant or dry-cutting setups at appropriate speeds and feeds for the material grade.
Designed as a standard-length replacement or direct-use end mill for applications requiring a 3/32-inch ball end mill with a 1/8-inch shank; compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified by the manufacturer for the HP421BN series.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using a compatible collet chuck or end mill holder rated for the 1/8-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Set runout and projection length according to the machine tool manufacturer specifications and the required reach for the operation. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
