The OSG HP255-6563 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It carries a 140-degree split point with R-thinned web geometry that reduces thrust and promotes self-centering entry without a center punch. The WD1 coating provides wear resistance and heat dissipation suited for steel and cast iron applications. At 143 millimeters overall length with a 93-millimeter flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length toolholding setups. A straight-cylindrical shank measuring 18 millimeters in diameter ensures secure clamping in drill chucks and collet holders. Designed for production and maintenance machinists who need consistent, accurate holes in demanding workpiece materials.
This bit is built for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in both production and job-shop environments. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth applications including blind holes, cross holes, and through holes. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with machining centers and CNC drill presses equipped with internal coolant delivery. The tapered web configuration and regular spiral type suit general-purpose drilling cycles where dimensional accuracy and surface finish at the hole entrance are priorities.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet or chuck is tightened to the toolholder manufacturer specification before beginning any drilling cycle. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and must not be used in setups with excessive runout or lateral loading. Verify coolant flow is active before starting cuts when using the through-coolant feature.
