The OSG HP255-5906 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hardened materials. Built on OSG's HP255 series platform, it features a 15.00 mm diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point for accurate self-centering entry, and a multi-layer EgiAs proprietary coating for extended tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The straight cylindrical shank measures 16 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 133.00 mm (5.2362 inches), with an 83.00 mm (3.2677 inches) flute length. Internal coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management in deep and cross-hole applications. This drill is sized for use in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The HP255-5906 is suited for production drilling in steel, cast iron, and hardened materials in both job shop and manufacturing environments. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports jobber-length reach in blind hole, cross hole, and through-hole drilling scenarios. The tapered web configuration with R-thinning reduces thrust load and improves point stability at entry. This drill is a strong fit for high-cycle drilling operations where consistent hole diameter tolerance — held to +0.007 to +0.025 mm — is critical to part quality.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-axis machine tools accepting a 16 mm straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material codes P and K indicate suitability for steel and cast iron per ISO material classification.
This drill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC setup technicians. Secure the shank fully in a collet chuck or drill chuck before spindle engagement, and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the tolerance class required. Enable coolant-through supply before beginning the cut when drilling blind or cross holes. Do not use this tool as a reamer or attempt to sharpen it without appropriate carbide grinding equipment.
