The OSG HP245-1102 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It features a 2.80 mm diameter with a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, a 140-degree R-thinned point for self-centering entry, and a WD1 coating that extends tool life in ferrous applications. The spiral flute geometry follows a regular helix with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, providing efficient chip evacuation in blind hole and cross hole operations. This bit is sized to 0.1102 decimal inch equivalent and holds a diameter tolerance of +0.002 to +0.012 mm. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual setups where precise, repeatable hole geometry is required.
The HP245-1102 targets production and maintenance machining environments where steel and cast iron are the primary workpiece materials. Its 56.00 mm overall length and 23.00 mm flute length make it appropriate for short-to-medium depth blind holes and through holes at this diameter class. Install in a collet chuck or drill chuck sized for a 3.00 mm shank and confirm runout is within acceptable limits before cutting. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling to prevent movement during entry. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for solid carbide tooling in the applicable workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the drill if chipping or coating breakdown is observed.
