The OSG HP245-0469 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It carries a 140-degree R-thinned point geometry that promotes self-centering entry and reduces thrust load compared to standard 118-degree points. The WD1 coating improves wear resistance and helps manage heat at the cutting edge. With an overall length of 38.00 mm (approximately 1.5 inches) and a flute length of 11.00 mm (approximately 0.43 inches), this is a compact, rigid tool suited for precision work in tight setups. It is part of the OSG HP245 series and is sold individually.
This drill bit is intended for use on steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces in production and maintenance machining environments. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, and self-centering operations where point stability matters. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral geometry make it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines running controlled feed rates. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with ferrous materials will find this drill suitable for close-tolerance hole work.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement drill bit in the OSG HP245 series, rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, and cast iron (material codes P and K).
Installation of this drill bit is performed by a machinist or maintenance technician using a standard drill chuck or collet sized for a 3.00 mm shank diameter. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning the cut. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for solid carbide tooling in the target workpiece material to avoid tool fracture.
