The OSG HP243-5118 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and cast iron. With a 13.00 mm diameter and a 140-degree point angle, it delivers aggressive cutting action and stable entry on hard ferrous materials. The EgiAs multi-layer proprietary coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding production environments. At 107.00 mm overall length, this short-series bit is built for rigidity in screw machine and CNC drilling operations. It features a right-hand cutting direction and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 14.00 mm in diameter. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators are the primary users.
This drill bit is engineered for production drilling in steel and cast iron workpieces, making it well suited to screw machine shops, job shops, and CNC machining centers. The screw machine length format reduces overhang and improves rigidity, which is especially valuable when drilling at depth-to-diameter ratios that demand consistent hole quality. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support chip evacuation without coolant-through capability, so flood or mist coolant at the spindle is recommended when running at production feeds.

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Verify collet or chuck bore matches the 14.00 mm shank diameter before clamping. Because this bit does not have coolant-through capability, external flood or mist coolant should be applied at the cutting zone to manage heat and chip evacuation. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each run; solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive runout or unsupported workpiece vibration.
