The OSG HP243-4016 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and cast iron. The bit measures 10.20 mm in diameter with a 140-degree R-thinned point that reduces thrust and improves centering on entry. A multi-layer EgiAs proprietary coating provides heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding production environments. Overall length is 102.00 mm (4.0157 inches) with a 55.00 mm flute length and a 12.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. This bit is suited for machinists, tool and die technicians, and production floor operators running CNC or manual drilling operations.
The HP243-4016 is built for drilling steel and cast iron in screw machine and short-hole applications. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio keeps the bit rigid in tight-tolerance work. The R-thinned web and tapered web configuration reduce walking and improve chip evacuation. Regular spiral flutes with a right-hand cutting direction make this bit compatible with standard drill press and CNC machining center setups. Drill bit diameter tolerance is held to +0.007 to +0.025 mm, placing it in the 0.4000 to 0.4500 decimal inch size range. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended for production runs.

Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, impact, or dropping the bit, as chipping or fracture can occur.
