The OSG 9599110 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal cutting in production and maintenance environments. Built from XPM high-speed steel with a coated finish, this bit measures 11.00 mm (0.4331 inches) in diameter and delivers superior wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 130-degree split point reduces walking and thrust load at the start of the cut. With a straight-cylindrical shank at 12.00 mm and an overall length of 104.00 mm (approximately 4.09 inches), it mounts directly in standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance mechanics rely on this bit for consistent hole quality in ferrous materials.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces in both manual and CNC machine tool applications. The screw machine (stub) length format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it the preferred choice for close-tolerance work on lathes, drill presses, and machining centers where overhang must be minimized. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes without pecking cycles in most steel applications.
Part of the OSG Series 1900 drill line, this bit covers the 0.4000 to 0.4500 inch (11.00 to 13.50 mm) diameter range and is designed for use in standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders accepting a 12.00 mm straight shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely clamped in the chuck or collet before starting. Verify that spindle speed and feed rate are set to values appropriate for the workpiece material and drill diameter per standard machining data references. Do not run this bit without proper chip clearance; retract and clear chips regularly when drilling deeper than the flute length allows.
