The OSG 9599070 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard-to-machine materials. Built on OSG's Series 1900 platform, it features an XPM high-performance coating over a straight-cylindrical shank and a standard 130-degree split point. The 7.00 mm (0.2756 inch) diameter and compact screw machine length body - 78.00 mm overall - make it well suited for rigid setups in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and screw machines where rigidity and precision matter. A right-hand, regular spiral flute geometry evacuates chips efficiently throughout the cut.
This bit is designed for production and job-shop drilling in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys. The screw machine length format keeps the tool short and stiff, reducing deflection in high-volume hole-making operations. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and R-thinned, tapered web construction promote center cutting action and reduce thrust load at entry. Machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and CNC operators working in metal fabrication and manufacturing environments are the primary users of this tool.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy. Fits within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch (6.50 to 8.00 mm) drill bit size range of the OSG Series 1900 line.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with metal-cutting operations. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a compatible drill chuck or collet before operation, and verify that the machine spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and drill diameter. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed. Follow all applicable shop safety protocols and machine guarding requirements during operation.
