The OSG 9599054 is a jobber-length twist drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from XPM high-speed steel with a V-series coating, this bit runs a 5.4 mm diameter (0.2126 inches decimal equivalent) and an overall length of 70 mm. The 130-degree point angle and R-thinned web geometry reduce thrust and promote self-centering at entry, making it well suited for production drilling where accuracy and tool life matter. A straight-cylindrical 6 mm shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance trades install and operate this bit.
This bit is rated for drilling blind holes, cross holes, pilot holes, and general through-hole work in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys. The regular spiral flute with a 28 mm flute length evacuates chips efficiently across these materials. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine spindle rotation. The 2-flute configuration keeps the geometry simple and robust for straight drilling in solid material. Typical applications include manual drill press work, CNC machining centers, and general fabrication environments where ISO material groups P, K, S, and H are commonly encountered.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys corresponding to ISO material groups P, K, S, and H. Part of OSG Series 1900. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit.
Install this bit in a drill press, lathe tailstock, or CNC spindle with the shank fully seated and the chuck or collet tightened to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Power down and lock out the machine before changing bits. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against published cutting data for the specific workpiece material before starting the cut. Do not use this bit for coolant-through applications, as it is not designed for internal coolant delivery.
