The OSG 9599020 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys. At 2.00 mm (0.0787 inches) in diameter, it features an XPM high-speed steel construction with a proprietary coating and a 130-degree point angle engineered for fast penetration and reduced thrust. The spiral flute geometry with X-Thinned web configuration improves chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. This bit is suited for production machining and shop environments where shorter, stiffer tooling is preferred over jobber-length bits. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This drill bit is built for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine applications where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. Its screw machine length keeps deflection minimal, making it well suited for close-tolerance work in ferrous materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders commonly used in production environments. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip clearance at typical screw machine feed rates.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces. Part of the OSG Series 1900 screw machine drill bit lineup for production and general machining applications.
Install and remove drill bits only with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet to prevent slippage during operation. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace tooling that shows chipping or excessive dulling to maintain hole quality and dimensional accuracy.
