The OSG 8732031 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in demanding machining environments. With a 1.70 mm (0.0669 inches) diameter and a 135-degree split-point geometry, it starts on contact without a center punch and reduces thrust force. The IchAda coating improves wear resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Overall length is 60.00 mm with a 17.00 mm flute length and a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling. This bit weighs 0.01 pounds and is suited for CNC machining centers and precision drill presses.
This micro drill bit is used in precision manufacturing applications including aerospace, medical device, electronics, and general metalworking. Its small diameter and rigid carbide construction make it appropriate for tight-tolerance hole drilling in steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with close-tolerance prints will find the 135-degree point geometry reduces walking and improves positional accuracy without a pilot hole.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and precision drill presses equipped with collet systems or drill chucks accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Verify spindle runout and toolholder concentricity before use at micro diameters.
Install and remove this bit with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at rest. Use a collet or precision drill chuck sized for the 3.00 mm shank to minimize runout; excessive runout at micro diameters accelerates breakage. Confirm coolant-through lines are clear and pressure is appropriate for the material before initiating the drilling cycle. Handle carbide tooling carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges during setup.
