The OSG 8732013 is a solid carbide micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in small-diameter applications. Ground to a 1.6 mm diameter with a 140-degree split-point angle, it produces clean entry holes with reduced walking and minimal thrust force. The IchAda coating improves surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in abrasive or hard-to-machine materials. At 53 mm overall length with a 9.6 mm flute length and a 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard collet-style toolholders common in CNC drilling centers and precision manual presses. Through-coolant capability allows fluid delivery directly to the cutting edge, which is critical when drilling deep holes at micro diameters.
This bit is suited for precision machining environments where tight hole tolerances and fine surface finish are required. Typical applications include PCB and electronics component drilling, medical device manufacturing, aerospace component work, and instrument fabrication. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with standard spindle rotation. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians working with aluminum, brass, stainless, hardened steels, and composites will find this geometry and coating appropriate for those materials.
Designed as a direct-fit micro drill bit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision drilling fixtures accepting a 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank with through-coolant capability.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with micro-diameter tooling. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank, as contamination at this diameter range causes measurable runout. Confirm through-coolant pressure settings are appropriate for the workpiece material before starting the cycle. Micro drill bits are brittle at this diameter — do not apply side load or use them to enlarge existing holes.
