The OSG 8706600 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 6540 standards, it features a 6.00 mm (0.2362 inch) diameter with an overall length of 190.00 mm and a flute length of 140.00 mm, giving it a 15xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited for deep-hole work. The 140-degree drill point angle and X-Thinned web geometry reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced surface hardness and wear resistance. Coolant-through design supports high-speed drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual drill press setups.
This drill bit is intended for use in production machining environments where extended reach and tight tolerances are required. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and drill chucks without modification. Its two-flute, right-hand cutting geometry suits through-hole and blind-hole applications in metals, alloys, and engineering plastics. The coolant-through channels make it particularly well suited for deep-hole drilling cycles where chip packing and heat buildup are concerns. Typical applications include mold making, aerospace component machining, and general metalworking where a standard-length bit cannot reach the required depth.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use extra length carbide drill bit for CNC machining centers and manual machines accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is isolated before loading or removing the bit from a collet or chuck. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts, or re-entering a hole off-center, as these can cause chipping or fracture. Verify coolant-through pressure and flow rate are compatible with the machine before running internal coolant.
