The OSG 8704610 is a solid carbide taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built from solid carbide, it delivers superior hardness and wear resistance compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The bit features a 140-degree split point with X-thinned web geometry that reduces thrust force and improves centering accuracy at entry. An EgiAs coating provides additional lubricity and heat resistance during high-speed cutting operations. At 0.2402 inches (6.10 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 4.92 inches (125.00 mm) and a flute length of 2.64 inches (67.00 mm), this bit is built for deep-hole work at an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
The OSG 8704610 is suited for production machining environments where consistent hole quality and tool life are critical. The right-hand spiral flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with machine spindles equipped with internal coolant delivery, supporting continuous cutting at higher feed rates without manual lubrication interruption. It is a strong fit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-axis setups where straight-shank toolholders such as collet chucks or hydraulic chucks are used.
