The OSG 8702700 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It carries a 7 mm diameter (0.2756 inches) with a 140-degree R-thinned point for accurate self-centering entry and reduced thrust. The EgiAs coating provides thermal resistance and lubricity to extend tool life in abrasive or hard workpiece materials. With an overall length of 109 mm and a flute length of 56 mm, the 8702700 fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers. The OSG 8702700 is engineered for use on steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys, covering ISO material codes P, K, S, and H. It suits blind hole drilling, cross-hole operations, and through-hole applications where a self-centering geometry reduces layout time. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through design make it well suited for CNC drilling operations where chip evacuation and cutting-zone cooling are critical. The straight-cylindrical shank with an 8 mm shank diameter seats securely in standard ER or drill chuck toolholding.
Designed for use with workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys (ISO P, K, S, H). Fits standard straight-cylindrical toolholding systems accepting an 8 mm shank. Part of OSG Series 6510.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended grip length before running the spindle. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts beyond the tool's rated application, and re-gripping on a worn shank surface. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material being drilled before engaging the cut.
