The OSG 8693470 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 14.70 mm diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point for self-centering entry, and an EgiAs coating that improves wear resistance and heat dissipation at the cutting edge. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 15.00 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. With a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through capability, this drill is built for production environments where tool life and hole quality matter. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This drill is suited for blind hole, cross hole, and standard through-hole drilling operations in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes consistent chip evacuation, making it appropriate for both manual and CNC machining centers. The R-thinned point reduces thrust force at entry, which is especially useful when drilling into interrupted cuts or cross-holes. It belongs to OSG Series 6510, a line designed around high-performance solid carbide tooling for ISO material groups P, K, S, and H.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys corresponding to ISO material groups P, K, S, and H. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with toolholders or chucks accepting a 15.00 mm straight shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Where the machine supports it, connect the coolant-through supply before initiating a cut to maximize tool life. Follow the machine manufacturer and OSG Series 6510 recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material.
