The OSG 8693270 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 1/2 inch (0.5000 inch) in diameter with a 140-degree R-thinned point that promotes self-centering entry and reduces thrust load. The overall length is 167.00 mm with a 102.00 mm flute length, providing a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited for moderate-depth hole production. An EgiAs coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 13.00 mm in diameter for secure chuck retention. Two right-hand spiral flutes with a regular helix evacuate chips effectively. This bit is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with precision drilling equipment.
The OSG 8693270 is engineered for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces, covering ISO material codes P, K, S, and H. It handles blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering applications. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed machining setups where internal coolant delivery is available. It is well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines in job shop, production, and maintenance environments requiring tight diameter tolerances.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide drill bit for CNC machining centers and conventional drilling equipment accepting a 13.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, within the OSG Series 6510 product family.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling handling procedures. Secure the shank fully in a compatible drill chuck or collet to the appropriate engagement depth before operation. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing tooling. Avoid side-loading or prying with carbide bits, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to chipping under lateral stress.
