Product Description

The OSG 8693200 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. It carries a 12 mm diameter with a 140-degree drill point angle and an EgiAs coating that improves wear resistance and heat dissipation at the cutting edge. The overall length is 156 mm with a 96 mm flute length, providing a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited to deeper hole applications. A right-hand spiral flute and R-thinned web geometry reduce thrust force and improve chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability allows internal cutting fluid delivery to the tip. This bit is installed by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians running CNC machining centers or drill presses.

The OSG 8693200 fits production and job-shop environments where hole quality and tool life in hard or abrasive workpiece materials are priorities. It handles blind holes, cross holes, standard through-drilling, and self-centering applications in Series 6510 configuration. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 12 mm shank diameter seats directly in standard ER collet chucks and drill chucks sized for 12 mm tooling. The tapered web configuration and R-thinned point reduce walking at entry, making it suitable for applications where a dedicated spotting operation is not practical.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and extended tool life in ferrous and hard alloy materials
  • EgiAs coating for enhanced wear resistance and reduced heat buildup at the cutting zone
  • 140-degree drill point angle with R-thinned web reduces entry thrust and minimizes workpiece deformation
  • Coolant-through design delivers cutting fluid directly to the tip for deep-hole chip control
  • 5xD flute length ratio supports deeper holes without intermediate pecking cycles
  • Right-hand spiral flute with regular helix for consistent chip evacuation in steel and cast iron

Compatibility

Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys per OSG material codes P, K, S, and H. Fits standard 12 mm straight-cylindrical collet chucks and drill chucks. Part of OSG Series 6510.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the collet or chuck and verify runout before engaging the workpiece. When using coolant-through capability, confirm that the machine spindle and toolholder support internal coolant delivery at the required pressure before operation.
