The OSG 8692620 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding ferrous and exotic materials. Built on OSG Series 6510, it features a 6.20 mm diameter (0.2441 inch), a 140-degree R-thinned point for self-centering entry, and an EgiAs coating engineered to extend tool life under aggressive cutting conditions. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 7.00 mm and fits standard collet and chuck systems. Right-hand spiral flutes with a regular helix evacuate chips efficiently during blind hole and cross hole operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals working in production or maintenance environments rely on this geometry for consistent, repeatable hole quality.
This drill is suited for cutting steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys — material codes P, K, S, and H in ISO workpiece classification. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support drilling to moderate depths in both blind hole and through-hole applications. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery for heat management during high-speed or deep drilling cycles. Typical use cases include production machining, job shop work, and maintenance drilling where tight diameter tolerances are required.
Designed for use in standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 7.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers and conventional drill presses equipped for coolant-through tooling. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys per ISO material codes P, K, S, and H.
Installation and operation of carbide cutting tools should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with speeds, feeds, and clamping requirements for the specific workpiece material. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank. Carbide is brittle — avoid side-loading or impact conditions that are not part of the intended drilling cycle. Verify coolant lines are clear and delivering adequate pressure before engaging coolant-through mode.
