The OSG 8692490 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. It measures 4.90 mm in diameter with an overall length of 95.00 mm and a flute length of 45.00 mm. The 140-degree split point geometry reduces thrust and improves centering without a center punch. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced lubricity and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Two spiral flutes with X-thinned web geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed drilling cycles in production environments. This bit is installed by machinists and CNC operators on vertical machining centers, drill presses, and multi-axis turning centers.
The OSG 8692490 is suited for production drilling in general metalworking, aerospace component fabrication, die and mold work, and precision machining shops. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 5.00 mm diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet systems. The right-hand cutting direction and spiral flute design make it compatible with conventional CNC spindle rotation. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio places it in the standard jobber category, appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole applications within its size range of 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle setups accepting a 5.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank within the 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm drill size range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Ensure the chuck or collet is clean and undamaged before seating the shank to the full grip depth. Confirm spindle rotation is set to right-hand before initiating a cut. When using coolant-through capability, verify coolant pressure and flow are within the machine tool and toolholder specifications before running.
