The OSG 8692400 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. It features a 4 mm diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point for self-centering entry, and an EgiAs coating to extend tool life under aggressive cutting conditions. The 2-flute spiral design with a regular spiral type promotes efficient chip evacuation. Overall length is 86 mm (approximately 3.39 inches) with a 36 mm (approximately 1.42 inches) flute length. Coolant-through capability makes this bit well-suited for deep or precision drilling operations in production environments.
This drill bit is intended for metalworking applications including blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, standard through-hole drilling, and self-centering operations. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports stability in moderate-depth holes. It is part of the OSG Series 6510 and targets machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working with ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces in manufacturing, maintenance, and repair settings. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for 4 mm shanks.
Designed for use in workpiece materials coded P (steel and alloy steel), K (cast iron), S (titanium and titanium alloys), and H (hardened materials) per ISO material group designations. Fits standard 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank drill chucks and collet systems.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify chuck or collet runout is within tolerance for the application, as excessive runout accelerates carbide wear. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant supply when activating the coolant-through feature to maintain chip clearance and thermal control.
