The OSG 8692310 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built on OSG Series 6510, it features a 3.1 mm diameter with a 140-degree point angle and R-thinned web geometry that reduces thrust and improves self-centering at entry. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat dissipation, extending tool life in abrasive and hard-to-machine workpiece materials. With a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 4.0 mm in diameter and a right-hand spiral flute configuration, this bit is suited for precision production environments where consistent hole quality is required. It is typically installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and metalworking professionals.
This drill bit is designed for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys, covering ISO material codes P, K, S, and H. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it well suited for blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, and general through-hole applications. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed CNC machining operations where internal coolant delivery is available, helping to evacuate chips and maintain cutting edge temperature in deep or interrupted cuts.
Designed as an OEM-style precision drill bit for CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 4.0 mm shank diameter within the 3.00 mm to 4.00 mm drill bit size range.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify the collet or chuck bore matches the 4.0 mm shank diameter to prevent runout and premature tool wear. When using coolant-through capability, confirm that coolant pressure and flow rate are compatible with the spindle and toolholder setup before starting the cut.
