The OSG 8691110 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 0.437-inch (11.10 mm) diameter, 140-degree split point, and R-thinned web, this bit starts on contact and reduces thrust in hard materials. The two-flute spiral design with a regular helix provides efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone, extending tool life in deep-hole and high-cycle operations. This bit is built to Series 6500 specifications and carries a straight-cylindrical shank with a 12.00 mm shank diameter.
This drill bit is suited for production and job shop environments where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required in ferrous and exotic metals. Primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. The screw machine length body — shorter and more rigid than jobber-length bits — reduces deflection and improves accuracy in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes. The coated finish improves wear resistance and reduces built-up edge on difficult materials.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes where screw machine length carbide drills with straight-cylindrical shanks are specified. Suitable for workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys per OSG Series 6500 application guidelines.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a precision drill chuck or collet rated for the shank diameter before operation. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits prior to use, as carbide tooling is sensitive to lateral loading. Enable coolant-through flow before engaging the cut when using internal coolant systems.
