The OSG 8691090 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built to Series 6500 standards, it features a 0.4291-inch (10.90 mm) diameter, a 140-degree split point, and a coated finish for extended tool life and reduced heat buildup. The right-hand spiral flute geometry, combined with R-thinned web configuration, promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduced thrust force at entry. Coolant-through capability makes it well-suited for deep-hole operations in production environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is engineered for use on ferrous and high-strength workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. The screw machine length profile — shorter overall length compared to jobber bits — provides increased rigidity and accuracy, making it a preferred choice for turret lathes, screw machines, and CNC machining centers where overhang and deflection must be minimized. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports controlled chip flow during continuous cutting cycles.
