The OSG 8682420 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in demanding production and job-shop environments. It features a 140-degree split-point geometry that reduces thrust, improves self-centering, and minimizes walking on entry. The WXL coating provides enhanced lubricity and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. At 4.20 mm in diameter (0.1654 inches) with a 95.00 mm overall length, this drill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual drill presses where tight tolerances are required. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management in deep-hole applications.
This drill is intended for use in metalworking, precision machining, and fabrication settings where consistent hole diameter and surface finish are critical. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collets without the need for special toolholding. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 38.00 mm flute length make it appropriate for holes up to five times the drill diameter. It is installed by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working in industrial and commercial shop environments.
Designed as a direct-fit jobber drill for standard drill chucks and collets accepting straight-cylindrical shanks in the 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm drill size range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification before operation. Verify coolant-through supply lines are connected and flowing before engaging the drill in deep-hole cycles. Proper speeds and feeds for the workpiece material should be confirmed against the tool manufacturer cutting data before use.
