The OSG 8672820 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter P (0.3228 inches / 8.20 mm) with a 140-degree split point and an EgiAs coating. It is built for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The R-thinned point reduces thrust and improves self-centering, while the EgiAs coating extends tool life in demanding ferrous applications. With an overall length of 103 mm (approximately 4.06 inches) and a 61 mm flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length applications in CNC machining centers and manual drill press setups. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician is the typical end user.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance machining work in steel and cast iron components. Rated for blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, general drilling, and self-centering applications, it performs well in operations where point accuracy and chip evacuation matter. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper holes without excessive chip packing. The straight-cylindrical shank at 10.00 mm diameter seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces (primary workpiece material codes P, K, H). Fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 10.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 6310.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the spindle and work-holding are fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excessive runout will chip carbide cutting edges. Coolant through is not supported on this bit — use external flood or mist coolant when operating in high-heat applications.
