The OSG 8672390 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding production and maintenance applications. Sized at 3.90 mm (0.1535 inches decimal equivalent), it features a 140-degree split point geometry with X-thinned web for improved centering and reduced thrust on entry. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced lubricity and heat resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With an overall length of 74.00 mm and a flute length of 36.00 mm, this two-flute, right-hand spiral configuration is well suited for machine shop work, toolroom operations, and field maintenance drilling performed by machinists and precision trade technicians.
This drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held electric drills where consistent hole quality in the 3.00 mm to 4.00 mm diameter range is required. The straight-cylindrical shank at 4.00 mm diameter fits standard ER collets and drill chucks without modification. No coolant-through capability is present, so external flood or mist cooling is recommended when drilling hardened or abrasive materials. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes typical of jobber-length applications.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide jobber drill fitting standard drill chucks and ER collet systems that accept a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for workpieces in the 3.00 mm to 4.00 mm bore range.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and power is isolated before mounting or removing the drill bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable tolerance before drilling, as excessive runout accelerates carbide breakage. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material being drilled.
