It measures 2.40 mm in diameter (0.0945 inches) with a 140-degree split point and an overall length of 66.00 mm. The EgiAs coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding applications. The X-thinned web geometry improves penetration and reduces thrust force at entry. This drill is suited for machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators working with precision components that require consistent hole quality at small diameters.
The OSG 8672240 is intended for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. It performs well in blind hole, cross hole, standard drilling, and self-centering applications. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth holes. It is commonly used in production machining environments, job shops, and maintenance operations where small-diameter, tight-tolerance holes are required in hard ferrous materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit within the OSG Series 6310 product family, suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines using straight-shank toolholders accepting a 4.00 mm shank.
This drill bit is installed by a machinist or CNC technician into a compatible collet, chuck, or toolholder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant at the entry point when drilling steel or cast iron to manage heat, as this drill does not support through-coolant. Confirm runout of the toolholder before starting a production run to protect the carbide from premature chipping.
