The OSG 8670750 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 6300 specifications, it features a 140-degree drill point angle and a 2-flute spiral configuration with R-thinned web geometry for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8.00 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 79.00 mm (approximately 3.11 inches). This bit is intended for use by machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operations requiring tight-tolerance hole quality in ferrous materials.
The OSG 8670750 is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in screw machine and short-hole drilling setups. Its screw machine (stub) length geometry provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it a common choice for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and drill presses where chatter and deflection must be minimized. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip removal in moderate-depth holes. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling ferrous workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide drill bit for screw machine length applications in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Compatible with any machine spindle or chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at the specified 8.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or external coolant when drilling steel or cast iron, as this bit does not feature coolant-through capability. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point geometry is compromised.
