The OSG 8670420 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. With a 0.1654-inch (4.20 mm) diameter and a 140-degree drill point angle, this bit delivers clean, accurate entry in short-length drilling applications. The R-thinned web reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. A coated finish extends tool life in demanding production environments. Two spiral flutes in a regular helix pattern clear chips efficiently during the cut. This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool and die technicians, and production drilling operators working on CNC or manual drill presses and machining centers.
This drill bit is suited for screw machine length applications where stub-length rigidity is required and deflection must be minimized. Its straight-cylindrical shank with a 6.00 mm (0.236-inch) diameter fits standard collets and drill chucks. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it effective in short-hole production drilling. Primary target materials are steel, alloy steel, and cast iron across both production shop and job shop environments. It is sold individually and is part of the OSG Series 6300 high-performance carbide drill lineup.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines with collets or chucks accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, alloy steel, and cast iron.
This drill bit is installed by machinists and tool operators in a collet or drill chuck sized for a 6.00 mm shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the chuck or collet is properly torqued before operation. Confirm correct speeds and feeds for the workpiece material before drilling. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external coolant or cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material.
