The OSG 8670280 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. Built from solid carbide and coated for extended tool life, this bit measures 2.80 mm (0.1102 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree split point for accurate self-centering and reduced thrust. The X-thinned web and tapered web configuration minimize cutting resistance and improve chip evacuation. At 62.00 mm overall length with a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, it fits standard collet chucks and drill chucks used in CNC machining centers and screw machine applications. Designed for right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute pattern.
This bit is built for production machining environments where close-tolerance hole quality in ferrous materials is required. The screw machine length format provides increased rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well-suited for short-hole drilling operations on lathes, screw machines, machining centers, and drill presses. Primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The 2xD flute-by-diameter ratio and 14.00 mm flute length are optimized for efficient chip clearing in short-depth holes. OSG Series 6300 tooling is intended for high-performance, tight-tolerance applications in metalworking shops and production facilities.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Fits standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 6300, covering decimal inch sizes in the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures with the machine powered down and locked out. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck to the recommended grip depth before operation. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loads or interrupted cuts beyond the tool design limits. Consult OSG Series 6300 application guidelines for recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material.
