The OSG 8667970 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. It features a 9.70 mm (0.3819 inch) diameter, a 140-degree split point, and OSG WXL coating for extended tool life and heat resistance. The 2-flute spiral design with a regular spiral type promotes efficient chip evacuation, and coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting edge. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators install this drill in machining centers and drill presses where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required.
The OSG 8667970 is suited for drilling primary workpiece materials classified under ISO material codes P (steels), M (stainless steels), K (cast irons), and S (superalloys). With a flute-to-diameter ratio of 5xD, it handles moderate-depth holes in both job-shop and production settings. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 10.00 mm shank diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. This drill is part of the OSG Series 5210 high-performance carbide drill family.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style solid carbide jobber drill for use in machining centers, CNC drill presses, and manual drill presses accepting a 10.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for ISO material groups P, M, K, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of runout before seating the shank, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to side-loading. Verify that coolant-through passages in the tool holder are clear and properly pressurized before engaging coolant-through mode. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when operating rotating cutting tools.
