The OSG 8667310 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Sized at 3.10 mm (0.1220 inch decimal equivalent), it features a 140-degree R-thinned point that promotes self-centering and reduces thrust on entry. The WXL coating provides enhanced wear resistance and lubricity, extending tool life in abrasive and hard-to-machine materials. At 86.00 mm overall length with a 28.00 mm flute length, this drill falls within the Series 5210 family built for precision hole-making in production environments. Installation and operation require a compatible 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank holder or collet chuck. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users.
This drill is optimized for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces, covering ISO material group codes P, M, K, and S. It handles blind hole drilling, cross-hole drilling, standard through drilling, and self-centering applications. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderately deep holes. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting edge, making it well-suited for CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with through-spindle coolant systems.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar equipment equipped with a collet chuck or drill chuck accepting a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy as specified for OSG Series 5210.
Secure the shank fully into a properly sized collet or chuck before operation and verify runout with a dial indicator when tight tolerances are required. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate match the workpiece material and drill diameter per the tooling manufacturer guidelines before beginning a cut. When using the coolant-through feature, ensure the machine spindle coolant circuit is fully primed and the coolant pressure is appropriate for the hole depth and material. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear before reuse, as carbide drills can fracture if run on a worn edge.
